The Initial Letter
This year is my Junior year of High School. For these past three years I’ve been so consumed with everyone else, everything else going on in my life, and I just realized I don’t put myself first as much as I should. I do things for others and not myself. This year I intend to make my own path and stick with it. Not my parents path, not my friends, not my teachers, but for me and what I want to do. This year I want to make a path I know I'm going to be proud of. I want to be the person I would want my younger self to look up to. I expect myself to take accountability for my actions, do things for myself and stop being selfless all the time, as well as staying true to my goals and who I am as a person. I want to make everyone in my life proud but I also want to make myself proud as well. I’ve been living for what others want me to do, or how others think of me but instead I want to live for myself. This is my last year to figure out which road I’m headed on before my last year of High school. I want to have the courage to stay true to myself and live with who I am. No one can change me and the way I think or how I want to be so I shouldn’t let them. Instead of letting people get the best of me and letting people's negative feelings towards me get the best of me, I want to focus on myself and what I think about me. One intention I want to do is to stop being scared to fail. Following your own path makes you have your own expectations so you aren’t living for everyone else's expectations besides your own. It also just allows you to create your own true meaning of life. Living for yourself and doing what you want to do allows you to find your purpose in life. My purpose this year is to be content with everything around me because at the end of the day this is my road to success and my future. No one else can stop me. I’m finding my meaning in life and I can’t wait to lead with my own path, and my purpose is to inspire others to do the same. Instead of tearing people down let everyone live. We are all different and all have a different purpose so we shouldn’t judge anyone for that. I want to lead with integrity, confidence, and to show people I do care about them but I also care about myself. With the help of this program I’m able to accomplish the goals and tasks I need too, and find what path I want to be on.
Section 2- Favorite Quotes
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” -Martin Luther King Jr.
This is one of my favorite quotes of Martin Luther King Jr. I have seen this quote several times on Instagram and about Martin, especially with recent events of racism. I think this should be a quote I stand by and should keep in mind. I want to learn how to protect myself and my feelings while sticking up for myself. I have a lot of people who try to bring me down and are negative and it is important to stand strong and upfront with them, even amongst negative feedback I have to listen to. If we are silent about things that we shouldn't be silent about then we are being like everyone else and not making a change. We should always advocate for what is right and what we believe in wholeheartedly. At the end of the day if you want something to change you have to do it for yourself. This quote is pushing me to be myself and stick up for what I believe in.
“You can choose your words. But you cannot choose the effect they can have on people”-UK.
This quote is important to me because words have the power to both destroy and heal. When words are both true and kind, they can change our world. You can’t take back what you say, or what someone says about you. Words have the ability to give strength, and the words we choose can also be one of our biggest weaknesses. Words are the most powerful weapons that we as humans have but we are incapable of realizing it. They not only make you feel, they make you want to change how you are, and change your perspective towards life. Have you taken the time to think about why words started to affect the way we act and think? Negative words can change our society and the way we act towards one another. Words are harmless but once we see the effect they have on us, words are the most silent killer of them all.
“Your life isn’t yours if you always care what someone thinks of you.” -Unknown
This quote has made a very big impact on me and has opened my eyes. I’m the type of person who always cares about what others think about me. When someone says something about me I let it get the best of me. I always care about everyone's opinions. My goal in life is to make others happy and I always do everything for everyone and when people say something negative about me I let it get to me. No matter what it is I let that comment tear me down. Even if it’s about what I’m wearing, or how I play sports, or how I do something I worked really hard for. I don’t know why but I care about everyone's opinion so much and it really takes a tear on you. This quote made me realize it’s not my life if I keep letting people's opinions get the best of me. I won’t be able to live the life I want to. I need to learn how to live the life I want to live and do the things I want to do without caring about what others have to say about it.

Section 4- Goals
Leadership goals-
1. I want to have fun and not take things as seriously as I have been for the past years in this program. I want to put smiles on peoples faces and do everything not for myself but for the student body. I want to lift people up and make people's high school experience fun because we are only here once and having fun is important while getting work done. I just want to be someone everyone thought was caring and tried her hardest not for herself but for everyone else around her.
2. I want to work hard and be organized and be a good president. Being president has been with me for so long now that I want to find ways to improve and make my job better. I want to continue to find my weaknesses and grow from it. Being President is a lot of pressure and a lot to handle but I want to show that I can do what I put my mind to and I am good at my job. I want to get along with my team and be a role model for them.
Short term goals-
1. I want to learn how to be happy and not take everything so seriously. I want to get this out of my head that "I have to be perfect" because I don't. I am who I am and I want to take care of myself and make myself happy on my own. I want to do things that are going to better me and help me become a better person and stay true to my morals.
2. I want to make my parents proud. I want them to see how well they raised me and I want to do everything that they couldn't do. All of this isn't just for me it's for my parents to. They do everything for me so I want to give them something in return because they deserve it. I don't want them to have to worry about me and I want them to believe I am good at everything I do.
Long term goals-
1. I want to be an overall happy person and be content with my life and have a plan. I want to work hard and always find a way to do better. I want to have a family and be an amazing mom and wife to someone one day. I hope to have a stable job that I love and want to go to work happy everyday because having a job you dread is not the way to go.
2. I want to be someone who has good morals and never gave up no matter how hard life gets. I want to always be there for people that I love and make a change into someones life.

Page 1- Tips on how to let go
Letting go is easier said than done but once you realize that it’s okay to let things go and sometimes it’s for the better. Clinging onto situations that have affected you just keeps dragging you down and you are always going to think about it. Acceptance is better than holding onto it. Letting go is dealing with the situation then accepting what happened so you can let it go and move on. Situations you are mad about now you aren’t going to be thinking about it in a few months. Realize that situations are temporary and you are going to feel upset in the moment which is okay but holding grudges is doing nothing for you. You’re just hurting yourself in the long run. Kylee Brown states “Don’t take things to heart for so long because in a few months it’s going to be over with and you aren’t going to be thinking about what happened. Letting go is easier said than done but holding onto the situation is just making yourself even more upset.”
Page 2- Feelings are temporary
Kylee Brown says “Feelings are temporary” which means not everything lasts forever and we have to accept that. There’s a saying “Never make permanent decisions on temporary feelings' '-unknown. This means don’t get mad and make decisions based on your feelings at the moment. Take some time to process how you are feeling and think to yourself “am I going to be upset about this in a few months”? If you aren’t then we have to realize feelings are temporary. Kylee Brown talks about how she went through during some of her high school years and she was so upset and let it bring her down. Growing up and maturing she has realized not everything is going to be the way she thought it would be. Things change and so do your feelings once you handle it in the right way. We need to handle our emotions and feelings better in order to realize is this problem as big as it has to be?
Page 3- Get through the obstacles
We asked Kylee Brown if she's ever gone through something and had to learn how to preserve through it. She stated “Every problem in your life is going to feel like an obstacle. There’s going to be challenges you are going to face and not know how to handle them. What you need to know is that you can get through anything you are facing with the right mindset.” Not everything in life is going to come easy. There’s going to be people bringing you down, hating you. You are going to make mistakes and not be perfect all the time. The key is you don’t need to be perfect and it’s okay to make mistakes. Going through challenges is okay but how you get through them is what matters. Don’t give up on what you are going through. Keep fighting and keep pushing yourself because even when you think to yourself “I can’t do this, I give up” you actually can. Always remember that things are temporary, letting go will help you move on, and not giving up will get you through everything you are facing. If there’s one thing Kylee Brown wants you guys to know is that everyone has a purpose and no matter how hard things get, don't give up.

Section 8- Role Model
Section 9- Spirit Animal
An animal that describes my personality this year would be a butterfly. This year I am working on growing and developing into the person I want to be. I’ve had my setbacks for the past few years in High School and finally I’m starting to realize who I want to be and what I want to do with my life. A butterfly starts off as a caterpillar and turns into a butterfly. I see this as me growing into a new person and learning how to be better than I was before. Butterflies are harmless just like I would describe myself as. They are the beauty of nature and whenever someone sees one it’s an exciting moment. I want to be an exciting person and someone who is fun to be around which is why I chose my inner Animal would be a butterfly. This year has been my learning year where I had to go through many challenges and I kept going. Just like a butterfly keeps flying, so do I. Butterflies are always flying around staying busy which is what I’m usually doing on a daily basis. They fall on random peoples shoulders, backs, or wherever they land and I tend to go up to people and care about many people that I see struggling. I tend to go out of my way to see what I can do to make them feel better. I admire butterflies for not only their beauty but for how courageous they are to keep flying around, growing and developing from a caterpillar, and overall making people smile when they come around. That’s how I want to be as a person.
Section 10: The best things about me
Section 11: The impact of sounds and words
Primadonna girl, yeah
All I ever wanted was the world
I can't help that I need it all
The primadonna life, the rise and fall
You say that I'm kinda difficult
But it's always someone else's fault
Got you wrapped around my finger, babe
You can count on me to misbehave
Primadonna girl
This song is about a girl who has confidence and wants her life to be just the way she wants. When I was little me and my cousin would dance to this song and sing without knowing what this meant. But now that I'm older I understand the true meaning of this song. It sounds somewhat bratty but when I hear it, it puts me in a good mood and gives me confidence on who I want to be. Whenever you listen to songs you want to feel something and we want to realize what the purpose of the song is about and this song is beneficial to some. I always thought I was the princess and my dad always gave me what I wanted when I was little. Not saying he doesn’t anymore but now I need to work hard and do things on my own which isn’t so primadona! This song might not be fitting for most people but for me it’s not wanting the world to revolve around me. It’s to show me I have grown from the little girl I used to be and have a different outlook on life now. I can still listen to this song and let it give me confidence and let me feel good about myself while being humble and knowing in order to get what I want, it needs to be earned.

Section 13- What I like best about Being a member in Leadership
There have been many moments I will always try and cherish thinking about this school year so far. One of my favorite memories would be when we were doing door decorating because for my group it gave us time to reconnect and we killed it with our doors. This event is usually something we aren’t always the happiest about but this time was fun and got to get closer with some people in the class. The next memory would be when I posted a bereal and made Morty take a picture of us even when she didn’t know the camera was just going to flip right back at her. It was one great picture with half the class and two it was fun to see her get mad at me. The last memory would honestly be in class when we have our work days because that’s when the Juniors get to work on things together and grow closer with our conversations and funny talks that always make me laugh. I love being with all the juniors and getting closer as the year comes to an end. Being in this class is giving me the opportunity to make friendships I wouldn't have had if it wasn’t for leadership.
Section 14- A reflection of a peer in Leadership
My reflection is going to be on Devin Fitzpatrick. He has been my vice president for basically three years of this program. We have been through thick and thin together, our ups and downs, and the good and bads. But one thing I always see Devin do is show up and be there. Even if it’s late he will always be there and show up to be a helping hand. Even when he doesn’t know what to do or how to do something he finds a way to show up and be there for everyone. He stops what he’s doing and comes to an event, or helps set something up, and he always does whatever is asked. He is hardworking and has other priorities other than Leadership but he still makes sure that he is with us and gets his job done how it’s supposed to be. I’m honored I get to have Devin by my side through whatever it may be. He has shown growth, dedication, and strength through this year. He is a tough guy with a strong opinion but he still always cares about me and everyone around him which is something great about him.

Section 16- Things I love
In my free time when I don’t have school I like to go enjoy some of my favorite hobbies. I love being on the field and playing softball with my friends. I’ve been playing softball since I was a little girl and it’s a time I get to enjoy something I love with no problems, and just an outlet for me to not think about my worries in my life. I also get to take my anger and frustrations and take it out on hitting the ball or making good plays. When I’m not playing softball I like to be around my loved ones and hangout. Whether it’s laying down watching netflix, or finding new places to eat, whatever it may be, as long as I’m with them it makes me happy. I can’t only choose one hobby that I dedicate my time to because I also loved putting countless hours into this program to make events for our school enjoyable! I love staying busy but also staying in. I love going to Starbucks and watching the sunset, and just trying to navigate my life with some small things I can look forward to doing.
Section 17- Letter to my parents
My parents. Words can’t explain how much I have been needing them for these past few months. They are my inspiration to wake up every morning, they give me hope, they make me strong when I feel weak, they make me feel like I’m important, and they will drop everything and anything to make me happy. The two most hard working selfless people I know. They will do anything in their power to be there for me and my brothers. No matter what they are going through they always make sure they put us first. Every parent says their kids are their world but recently I have realized that my parents are mine. I couldn’t go through life without them. They have been by my side since day one and will always be. We take our parents for granted. I take my anger out on them, I take my sadness out on them, I don’t realize that whenever I’m hurting at least I get to come home to two amazing parents. Everything I do is for them. When I feel like giving up I keep pushing because I know they want me to be successful and happy. I want to make them happy and be proud of me. Most importantly I want them to know that they are my rocks. They are the people I would thank every single day if I could. They are the people that make me who I am and shaped me into who I’m becoming. I love them with everything and I hope they know they mean the world to me.
