Kylee Brown Sophomore Class President 2 September 2021
Position Assessment: Throughout the month of August as well as working through summer I’ve been working on getting things ready for the year. During summer my team and I started making our T-shirts and trying to get those done. Then at orientation we had our pre-sale T-shirt table and that was successful and shocking how many Sophomores pre ordered their shirts. After Orientation we started to plan a club rush. We sold more T-shirts and it was a big turn out. While planning club rush we started to plan our back to school dance with the asb vp avery redula. Standing Committee: The standing committee I’m a part of is balloon arch committee. We do lots of balloon arches throughout the year. Our first balloon arch is going to be for the back to school dance when we have it since it got pushed back.
Special Committee: The special committee that I”m on this month is the decorating committee for the back to school dance. I helped Emma and Abby with the decorations and we were planning where to put everything and to see the layout of what we are going to do for the dance. Mentorship Evaluation: My partner is Allie Camara who is a spirit commissioner. She has been doing exceedingly well for her first time in leadership. She works hard and knows how to do her job without question. She’s not scared to ask me questions and I can tell she’s excited to be in the program.
Concerts: The one concern I have right now is making sure I’m doing okay in the position I am. I want to be able to help everyone and get my job done successfully and since this is like my first full real year I want to make sure I put 100 percent effort and let everyone know they can come to me for help.
Positive Comment: My positive comment would be for Avery Redula. She has been working so hard and she has done so much to plan this dance in such a short amount of time. I can tell she loves what she's doing and she puts in so much effort for all of us.
Change: The one change I want is to get closer to more people in my class. I want to make sure I take the time to get to know everyone and not just talk to the people I’m close with. My Impact: As of right now I hope I’m doing a good job with my class officer team and making sure I help everyone and work together. I hope I’m being a good leader and impacting them in any way. This year I’m trying to stay more organized and on top of things so I can plan things better than I have before which I feel like I’ve been improving on.
Kylee Brown Sophomore Class President 13 October 2021
Position Assessment: Through the months of September and October there were many events I had to prepare for. I was able to help with the back to school dance and prepare for that. The back to school dance was a great success, with all of Avery’s hard work. The rest of September the sophomores and I started preparing for homecoming. We chose people for the lip sync and had help with that. Then we performed at the first night rally of the year. Shoutout to Jaydin and Ava. Then we got the supplies for Float, Poster, and window decorations. We spent hours after school and on the weekends building the float and making everything that needed to be made. Then October 1st was the parade which had a good turnout. Then leadership decorated the football field for the homecoming game and we got the win! Now that homecoming is over we started to plan Formal to get everything ready for that.
Special Committee- I was in the balloon arch crew and we made the back to school dance neon balloon arch for the entrance. Then I was on the decorating committee and helped pick the decorations. Emma, Abby, and I worked on getting the decorations and seeing where we should put everything.
Mentorship Evaluation- Allie Camara has started to come out of her comfort zone more and whenever she needs help she asks me. She’s doing a good job communicating and putting her thoughts and ideas out.
Concerns- One concern I have is to just try and connect and get to know everyone more. Personally I feel like I could be making more of an effort to try and get better connections with people so I’m going to work on that.
Positive Comment- I would give my positive comment to Spencer Redula. He put in so much time and effort into everything. He was my emotional punching bag and was there for me all throughout homecoming. His organization skills do not go unnoticed and he did a great job with handling all the paperwork.
Change- One thing I would change is better communication with everyone. I feel like if someone doesn’t like the way something is going we should communicate to each other instead of just talking to other people about it we should address the situation. My impact: I was able to come up with ideas and try to execute them, and make sure everyone didn’t have any questions and guided them on what to do. I tried to just make sure everything ran smoothly and productive.
Kylee Brown Sophomore Class President 12 December 2021 Position Assessment: Throughout November and December I had many activities to plan for. The main event was Formal. I had to sell tickets, find a vendor for a tent, go get decorations, plan everything out, find the dj, set up, and set down, bring and find heat lamps, turn in many purchase forms, and much more. Formal was a huge success with around 400 people attending and making the amount of money we made. The Sophomores worked really hard for this event and there were a few setbacks but everything worked out and in the end it turned out great. Not only were we working on formal, we also were planning a warm and fuzzy week. I made a google sheet of how the week was going to go. I picked out the dress up days, picked out the activities we were going to do for that week. Sell cookies and hot chocolate. I brought the christmas tree and ordered decorations for that, and made the purchase forms for warm and fuzzy. On top of that I’ve been working on winterfest and getting everything ordered before we leave for break. Special Committee- For formal I made committees for everyone to help and I was just running around helping with what needed to be done to make formal turn out great. Mentorship Evaluation- Allison Camara has been doing her spirit job very well especially for her first time. I’ve helped her with learning how to do the professional side of things and I try to show her step by step how to do her website and she learns very quickly. We talk on the daily and we even got matching ugly christmas sweaters! Concerns- A concern I have would be the positivity and working together as a team in the class. I think we need to remember our core principles because we are a leadership class and we should be leaders and not bring people down. There has been a negative atmosphere in the class for a while now and it shouldn’t be that way. Positive Comment- I would like to give a positive comment to Emma Phelps. She has worked so hard and has been doing everything for her class to be as successful as it is. She is non stop working hard and trying to please everyone. She’s doing an amazing job and she's a great person to look up too. Change- I would like to change how some people in the class treat others. You are supposed to be a leader and how can you do that if you just bring people down all the time? In leadership class we are supposed to have fun and not be so overwhelmed and stressed and not have to worry about people talking behind our backs. If there’s something that went wrong tell the person don’t just gossip behind their backs. That’s not what a leader does. A leader guides and teaches and does not talk bad and tears down the events or kids. My Impact: I feel as if I did a great job with dealing with two events going on at the same time. Everything got done and I worked really hard to make sure it looked nice and we had everything.
Kylee Brown Sophomore Class President 7 February 2022
Position assessment: With the months of January and February I was able to take a break from doing too much. We finished working on warm and fuzzy procedure form and wrapping everything up. Then in January we planned winterfest and me and the sophomores decorated and got everything together for that. After winterfest we’ve all been working on getting ready for elections that are coming up.
Special committee: The special committee I was in these months would be the balloon arch crew. We have been helping spirit and making balloon arches for some basketball games. We made a big balloon arch for the winterfest reveal game.
Mentorship: Me and my mentor have been talking more and getting closer again. It’s nice to have our connection back and I like when we get to sit with our mentors because it gives us more time to talk.
Concerns: One concern I would have would be for next year's winterfest. I feel like we could do more to get the whole school involved and we could do less class decoration competitions because I feel like that is just for the leadership class and not the whole school since they don’t really pay attention to that stuff.
Positive comment: I would give my positive comment to Derek. He went out of his way to help me edit my campaign video which was very nice of him because he didn’t have to do that. He has been helping not only me but everyone around the classroom and his bright personality makes the class better!
Change: One change I would make would be to make sure everyone is growing closer connections so we can work better together. We are getting better at it and it’s becoming less divided as it was before.
My impact: My impact for these two months would be coming up with the ideas for winterfest and making sure everything is done as well as making balloon arches and trying to help as much as I can.
Kylee Brown Sophomore Class President 7 April 2022 Position Assessment: With the months of February and March for me it has been more laid back then the other months. For February we all volunteered for almond blossom, made valentines day cards, encore with Norm, we got to watch some elder projects, 8th grade day, Gallery of the arts, Mentor project, working on the challenge for the end of the year, started planning for college reveal and banquet, and dodgeball.
Special Committee: Since I don’t have many events to plan like everyone else I’ve been trying to volunteer and help anyone who needs help. I am in the balloon arch crew and we have a college reveal, and a banquet to make balloon arches and pillars for. I also helped renaissance package everything in the bag and made an announcement post for them. And I was in the teacher appreciation group as well as setting up Jeff’s retiring basket.
Mentorship: My mentor is currently on independent study due to some health issues but we still talk on a daily basis and I make sure I let her know what we do and what she needs to do in class.
Concerns: One concern would be to maybe switch up seating just because so many people are always gone with sports, or college, whatever it may be there’s always so many tables empty so it doesn’t give us a time to bond with the class since it’s close to the end of the year.
Positive comment: My positive comment would be to Payton Miller Kay. I have seen her always talking with her team and always trying to get things done in a timely manner. She has been working hard with filling out po’s, decorating for games, keeping in contact with everyone she works with and I’ve seen her work really hard.
Change: One change I would make would be not everyone dressing out every Friday like we should be. We need to set a good example and just because the year is coming to an end doesn’t mean we need to stop our spirit. My impact: My impact would be just trying to step in as much as I can to get things done and help people who need help. I want to try my best to give assistance to people who need it.
Kylee Brown Sophomore Class President 12 May 2022
Position Assessment: With the months of April and May I was involved in helping with the challenge. I was in the teacher committee and Gabbi and I made a poster for the teachers as well as planned the events we had to do. We also went to a conference to get more logic about how we can improve our program and events we put on. We also did college reveals and I helped make a balloon arch for that. Then we had our leadership banquet which was a success. Then I put together Jeff’s retirement gift and speech as well as Mrs.Peneltons gift for our banquet to thank her for everything she has done for us.
Concerns: One concern would be to do more bonding experiences with the whole class so we get to have some fun with everyone before the year ends.
Positive comment: My positive comment would be to Mackenzie. She has been working so hard for next year to make sure everything improves and continues to get better. She has done so much to prepare for her next year’s position and I’m so excited to see what she does for the program and I can’t wait to learn more from her.
