The month of August and September we worked really hard on planning t-shirts, starting freshmen spotlight, and working on fallfest. For t-shirts we designed them around July and got them in around August. We communicated with our peers, made sure everyone had their shirt that was on the list, guided people so they knew how to pay for them, as well as promoting our class t-shirt drive by. We used Instagram and it has been a very useful tool for us. We worked on freshmen spotlight where we picked a female and a male who has a positive impact during these tough times. It was very exciting to see how happy it made them. The last thing we have been working on has been fall fest. We have been working on getting all the decorations as well as a set plan for all the upcoming activities we are holding. We are starting our door decorating, and getting ready for the truck competition. We have been working really hard and we hope our ideas come together.
Professional Development:
Ever since leadership I’ve learned a lot about how to be more professional than I used to be. I have learned how to communicate better with my peers, as well as working with others. This has helped me with my school work, and class discussions. I’m more comfortable with talking because in leadership it's a huge thing to know how to talk to everyone. Communication skills is a huge struggle for lots of people. Leadership has given me an opportunity for me to not have that struggle. Life after high school you are going to have to learn how to communicate and work well with people. I’ve learned how to have more skills and confidence when talking to people with this program. It has made me comfortable with getting involved, and helping others which is a really good life skill you need.
Concerns/Change:
The only change I want to focus on is trying to communicate with everyone more and coming out of my comfort zone. Things are very different this year because we aren't actually in person. I’m going to come out of my shell and start trying to make new friendships and communicate with people more.
Positive Comment:
I would like to make a positive comment on Spencer Redula as well as Devin Fitzpatrick. They are extremely hard workers, and are very dedicated to what they do. They haven’t given up and I’m very proud of them.
My Impact:
This year things have been very different from other years. Especially for us freshmen because we are transforming into middle school to high school. We weren't able to go back on campus and meet our teachers, make new friendships, and do the things we are able to do in high school. But I try to set a good example and stay positive! This year we need to have a positive mindset and look at the opportunities we do have. I want to put smiles on peoples faces and always be there for them. It makes me feel good when I know people come to me because they can rely on me. It makes me want to work harder. I try to come up with new ideas everyday and just try to help everyone when they need it. Having someone you can count on is a good feeling and I hope I can be that person for some people. I want to inspire people that life is all what you make out of it so be positive, and get involved.

Position Assessment:
This October we got to accomplish more than we expected. Due to covid we can’t do the normal activities that usually go on during this time. However we brainstormed and figured out a lot of activities for this month. First thing we accomplished was preparing for Fall Fest 2020. We had to pick a theme and dress up day, door decorations, truck decorations, trunk or treat drive thru, and candidate reveals. Our theme was “Fall Fashion”. So we choose to have a “sweater weather” theme. For door decorations we went to one of the representatives' houses to decorate their door. We added decorations that involved our sweater weather theme as well as adding fall decorations. After that we worked on our truck decorations . Our truck or treat drive thru also had a great turn out. It felt really good to have some normality during distance learning. We not only decorated the truck, we got to pass out more class shirts. October was a success and we got to accomplish a lot. It was not only a successful October, it was also a successful November. We got to make a twist on Dude Be Nice and tried to keep it the same as previous years. We got to make a basket, make him cards, and hand him balloons. It was a very nice event and he seemed to have loved it. In zoom class Morty made us write a letter to someone who has a big impact on our lives and show them gratitude. Little did we know we had to go to Morty’s office to “read her the letter”. Come to find out we had to call the person we wrote the letter to and read it to them. It was a big eye opener and made us feel really good to tell them how we feel about them. With the help of the technology commissioners, Brenden, Niki, and Morty we turned those phone calls into our gratitude video. It turned out really good and opened lots of peoples eyes. All nine freshmen representatives were able to have the opportunity to go to a zoom conference. We got to learn how to deal with the obstacles of distance learning and our mindset. It was a great experience. Overall we accomplished a lot with these two months.
Professional Development:
These past months with us being online it was difficult for me to interact with people. I’ve learned a lot and learned how to come out of my comfort zone and interact with my peers. Interactions are a real struggle. I’m glad I learned how important it is to communicate with others. Not only has leadership helped me with making me get out of my comfort zone and interact with others, I also got to learn more about myself and think deeper into life. Not only has Leadership taught me lessons on how to improve myself it has also shown me the importance of professional dress. I never realized how important it is to have good dress attire. I’m excited to improve and learn something new each day with being in this program.
Concerns and Change:
My concern thus far is wondering how we are going to be able to do activities this year with all the challenges we have to think of. We are lucky enough to be back at school, but it’s going to be difficult trying to see if we can have any activities yet.
Positive Comment:
I would like to give a positive comment on Derek and Bella for working really hard and spending countless hours on our gratitude video. As well as Niki and Brenden.
My impact:
These two months I was able to help and work with everyone. I helped pick out themes, decorate the door and truck, sell more t-shirts, and I got to see how it is to help set up a school event even through the different times.
